*** The best-selling board-game app over the past 10 years… and still counting! ***

PLAY ONE OF THE WORLDs MOST SUCCESSFUL BOARD GAMES!
Millions of players worldwide have either played Reiner Knizias award winning game in the original board game format, or have played on one of the online sites in the 10 years since launch of the board game. But the iPhone version could be the best yet .......by far! The high res screen of the iPhone perfectly suits the colours of the game, and the iPhones super-intuitive controls make it so easy to place those tiles!

INGENIOUS is HOURS of SHEER FUN.
The already addictive nature of the Ingenious board game is greatly enhanced on the iPhone, giving the user a really exciting- and graphically stimulating-experience every time. Build lines of colour tiles, try and block your opponent, and remember that the winner isnt necessarily the player with the highest scores in only a few colours!
You must excel in all your colours.

EASY ACCESS:
The rules are really easy to learn and a comprehensive tutorial will introduce you to the game. Within minutes youll be playing effortlessly, even as a first time player of the game.

MUSIC WHILE YOU PLAY.
Just choose your favourite artist or songs from the music iPod on your phone. And choose a different graphic background to suit your mood.

YOULL NEED STRATEGY to beat the AI opponents. But you have a choice of easy, medium or hard (as well as the option to play against the clock if you wish). You choose! And the app will record your best scores and best performances. There is room for up to 3 different player profiles.

PLAY ONLINE if you are feeling competitive. Compare your skills with leaderboards and challenging achievements via Game Center.

Or choose to play single player TOURNAMENTS and try to win multiple games in a row. You can also choose to play against the clock in some of the rounds.

PLAY the SOLITAIRE game: This is a seriously satisfying feature of the iPhone version! Instead of playing against opponents you use all your skills to create a really high score.

Pros and cons of Ingenious app for iPhone and iPad

Ingenious app good for

Some difficulties to turn pieces but all in one a beautiful result an addictive game - it is so difficult to block the computer in higher levels that you just go on to learn the trick. You can also play with different rules like limit color split or/and limit holes! A lovely game
Definitely fun and very similar in feeling to the board game. But lacking in functionality: 1) 3 and 4 player mode 2) Harder opponents 3) Better online mode If this was implemented then it wouldve been a 5star!
Ive been playing the PC version of this game for years, and for those unfamiliar with Ingenious, it really is any excellent puzzle game that involves turn-based strategy. Its easy to learn, slow to master, and fun. Ive spent countless hours playing it. I was thrilled to see that it was brought to the iPhone/iPod and enjoy it on this platform too. The interface is easy to use, and the game is more or less a faithful version of the one I know and enjoy. A few caveats, though. I wish the developers would make some sort of awards system whereby players try to meet various milestones, or compete against different personalities. As it stands the game is unembellished (much like the PC version) and some framing of the game within some sort of larger achievement scheme would add to the already good replay value. There is a tournament mode, but it feels more or less a uniform gaming experience. Where are even the basic gaming statisics? You only play against one computer opponent. Typically when I play on my PC, I play against three computer opponents, as this is more of a challenge. Perhaps there isnt enough screen space to allow for this comfortably on the iPhone. Lastly, it is very regretable that there is no multiplayer online or using wifi or Bluetooth -increasingly standard features of these sorts of games. This is really unfortunate as this is precisely the type of game that is enhanced by a human opponent, and playing the AI of the game will eventually leave you cold and wanting more. All and all, a very good game, and certainly worth the price. Still, the potential for excellence is on the horizon with some moderate updates. Ill keep my fingers crossed.
Im always looking for new strategic games. This one was worth the money. Its an interesting concept with smooth gameplay. The tutorial could be a bit cleaner and the easy setting needs to be a bit easier. The first 20 games were quite frustrating until I got the hang of it and could offer real competition to the CPU.
Controls are fantastic, the board and gameplay is great. This is a must have for any serious gamer. Probably put 20 or more hours in and still really enjoying it. I own the physical boardgame as well and its identical.
Fantastic version of Ingenious that is now compatible with 1st gen devices so there really is no reason not to own this game. :)

Some bad moments

Purchased because I loved the physical board game! This app is a little dated and feels off. Does not have a very intuitive interface. Multiplayer is a joke.
Used to play this game ALL the time- was completely addicted. Loved the ability to play solitaire and beat my own high score. Ever since the update came, you have to log into the game center and connect, which is a pain, and you cant just compete against yourself and challenge yourself to do better all the time, and track your scores. Ever since the update, the screen seems somehow less sensitive and a LOT slower - used to be able to play at a much faster pace. Wouldve given this game 6 stars before the update. Now I only play it when I want to "give it another chance" maybe once a month, and I always end up annoyed - would give this present version 1/2 a star, if that. Wish they would just change it back to how it was before the recent updates.
Needs multiplayer, not 2 player, various multiplayer... Will give a 5 star when you can do a 3-4 person game.
Quality adaptation of a quality board game, but thats not worth much if it repeatedly hard-crashes before I can finish a game. Please work the fatal bugs out and I will happily update this rating to the five stars I want it to be!
The game is great, but I got it specifically to play with my fiancée online and we have yet to be able to finish a single round.
